Tacos!
One of the BEST things about Los Angeles and one of the things I miss the most when I am traveling is the abundance of awesome tacos on every corner.
Whether its a taco truck, taco shack, nicer restaurant or fancy joint, one thing we have got down here is the humble taco. This delicious plate is from my old standby, Tacos Mexico on Beverly Blvd. and Virgil. Consistently good asada (grilled beef), moist and tender pollo (chicken) and juicy al pastor (marinated shreded pork).
Their house red salsa is slightly smokey roasted spicy, the green tomatillo salsa is bright and salty, and perfect on the chicken. I always get them with “everything” which is simply a mixture of chopped white onions and cilantro with a dash of salsa. They also offer up the classic pickled carrot/onion/jalapeno mixture, lime wedges and fresh chopped radishes on the side.
My mouth is watering for more just thinking about the perfect blend of lime on asada with the smokey hotness of the salsa and the bite of onion.
Ok, I’m going back for two more! Maybe four, they are so good! Also did I mention that they are $1.05 each? Delish and a bargain to boot! Who says great food has to be expensive or complicated?!
